Hanover and Montpelier offer a variety of restaurants and activities, good bookstores, Hood
Museum at Dartmouth and art supply stores in both cities. Area attractions include the
balloon festival in Queechee, Vt, glass blowing and restaurant at Simon Pearce in Queechee,
shopping, galleries and Billings Farm in Woodstock, public swimming beach at Lake Fairlee
(6 miles away) and low-key beauty and relaxation at Old City Falls, a local waterfall/swimming
area or own spring-fed pond.
Directions:
From NYC: I 684 toward Newburgh, N.Y. then onto I 84 northeast to Hartford, Ct. Get
on I 91 in Hartford, Ct. and travel through Ct., Mass, Vermont. Get off Exit 14
(Thetford/Chelsea) in Vermont. Turn left onto Rte. 113 and travel approx. 18 miles, through
several small towns to Vershire and toward Chelsea. Travel 4 miles up a long, gradual hill to
the top marked by Wards Garage on the left and the Corinth/Goose Green Rd. on the right. Pass
Wards Garage on 113 and take first driveway on your right. Proceed up a long, winding driveway.
From Boston: I 93 to Concord, N.H. Get on I 89 north in Concord and drive to White River Jct.,
Vt. Exit on exit____ onto I 91 north and proceed to exit 14. See above for remainder.
